The Holographic Weekend

On a Higher and Finer note…I spent a wonderful weekend with my son. We visited the park, went out for ice cream, had breakfast with Nanny and the usual gang of uncles, aunts and cousins and visited the local airport to watch small planes take off and land. (Silas is fascinated by airplanes.) But the best part was this…when we first got home, he heard my young cousins splashing about in the pool and we had to go over so he could see what they were up to. As soon as I opened the car door, Silas said, “People?” and we had to investigate. We then had to wander around the yard and check up on all the “borders” around my place. It was a lengthy process and Silas had to check that all the rocks he likes to play with most were right where he left them and he had to flirt with all the neighbor girls. We finally headed for my place and we cut through the back yard to get back to the Front Door. When we passed the back porch, Silas looked, pointed to it and said, “Home.”
It made my whole day.

Bends in road, event horizons. . . we are drawn through the years into our future, almost as though the world was spinning beneath our feet while we are standing still.

If that is so, it must be a herky-jerky ride for everyone else.

I love the way you speak of your son. He is a very lucky young man to have a father so involved and interested in his little world. Little boys need dads to sit with them on porch swings and talk about important things. Things like, which animals have tails. Very serious stuff.

The world IS spinning and I've been thrown off balance for far too long. It's time to get back to the basics and to listen again to the subtle voice of the Universe.
My memory of my own childhood is very clear to me and I recall all the issues that seemed paramount to me at the time. I want to be sure that I pay very close attention to which way Silas' mind will turn and to focus on what HE thinks matters most.
In fact, that is the thrust of my recent readings and ventures into self-discovery and self-healing. I need to look back on those times and figure out where, when and why the wide-eyed little boy I used to be became the cynical creep I am today. And spending time with a little boy who is just starting to discover the Magic of his world is a big help. Just being with him helps me to see clearly and to forget all the negative things that have ruled my life for too long.
There is still profound sorrow and loss and heartache and I worry for my son more than I can stand and I miss every time the sun comes up and he's not here. But I've got to make the most of my time with him and to see to it that he gets all the good things while he can.
